Savas J. Agrotis
Born in Paphos in 1945 he studied law in the UK and subsequently joined Embirikos Shipping Agency in 1973 where he acted as a legal advisor until 1982. A member of the Baltic Exchange, his main experience was gained in shipping management and chartering. In 1982 he moved to Cyprus and established Sagro Aquaculture Ltd, he now represents Cyprus on the FEAP and continues to play a vital and fully active role in Sagro.
Ioannis A. Agrotis
Born in London in 1975, studied at the City University Business School. Graduated with a BSc(Hons) in Management and Systems Science, followed by an MSc in Finance, Trade and Transport at the same University. He acquired two years working experience in the banking and offshore investment industry. He joined the management team at Sagro Aquaculture Ltd in 2001.
Dr Tim Atack
Tim has over 40 years of commercial aquaculture experience with a wide variety of fish and shellfish species, at both hatchery and grow-out levels. As well being directly involved in all of Sagro’s current production activities, his remit includes developing and managing all in-house and publicly funded R&D projects, diversification of production, the identification and exploitation of new business opportunities and the management of Sagro’s GAA BAP and ISO quality certification programmes.
Dr Christis Marangos
Studied in France and followed Marine Biology and Oceanology to a doctorate level. He is still active in research in this field. He has published numerous papers on fish health and rearing techniques. He joined Sagro Aquaculture in 1989 and has played a crucial role in designing and running the hatchery which has grown from strength to strength under his direction. He has designed and supervised the construction of the Pafos Aquarium.
A loyal team of marine biology experts are employed, many of which have been with the company from the beginning. Working alongside Dr Marangos, Yiannis Marangos, Andreas Michail, Marinos Konstantinou, Stavros Paraskevopoulos and Stavros Vrioni are Marine Biology graduates and post graduates and each manages a section of the Hatchery. A further local team of support personnel ensure all technical, security, cleanliness, bio security, growth and quality control procedures are executed on time 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Graduating from the University of Montpellier with a Diploma as a Specialised Aquaculture Technician, Adrian has several years of commercial fish farming experience, serving an internship at Sagro’s hatchery, before joining the largest sea cage farming company in Cyprus, initially in the fish feeding section, before becoming Assistant Manager with special responsibility for their fish vaccination programme. In 2018 Adrian returned to Sagro where he is responsible for the management of three new water recirculation systems and the operation of the pre-nursery section.
